The 58th Biennale of Art will open to the public on 11 May 2019. But starting from a few days before the opening there will be the various openings and side events that always suddenly animate the Venetian artistic life. The title of the 58 edition of the Biennale d'Arte is May You Live In Interesting Times.

79 artists are invited to exhibit at the 58th Venice Biennale of Art, with a prevalence of women. Among them the 2 Italians Ludovica Carbotta and Lara Favaretto. The first will make a site-specific work in Forte Marghera, inside the building known as the Austrian Powder Mill.

Press Release of Kosovo Pavilion of 58th Venice Biennale of Art

This year is the 20th anniversary of the Kosovo War, which lasted from 1998 to 1999, and the artist Alban Muja will bring to the Kosovo Pavilion a new video installation that explores the legacy of this war by studying the way how this war passed through media in Kosovo and worldwide.

The video installation is based on photographs of child refugees and others taken from the newspapers and on other media around the world. The art work so oblige the public to confront itself with the problematic of the perception caused by the images of the media and the distance placed between the public and the represented pain.

About the Curator of Kosovo Pavilion

Vincent HONOR� is an international curator based in London.

Part of the curatorial team opening the Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2001-2004), Honor� was in charge of exhibitions together with leading all publishing activities. As a member of the curatorial department at Tate Modern in London from 2004 to 2007, he developed large-scale solo and group exhibitions, collection displays, and education programmes.

In 2007, he became the founding Director and Chief Curator of DRAF (David Roberts Art Foundation), a non-for-profit charity in London, where he led the exhibitions programme, including multi-disciplinary performances and live events, together with a dynamic education program, working with emerging and established artists, such as Laure Prouvost, Liv Wynter, Ryan Gander, Eddie Peake, Anthea Hamilton, Michael Dean, John Stezaker, Charles Avery, Phyllida Barlow, Martin Boyce, Edward Thomasson, Zoe Williams, Haroon Mirza, Sarah Lucas and Jamila Johnson-Small.

Honor� co-founded the publishing house Drawing Room Confessions in 2011, for which he acts as chief editor and through which he has published books on Luis Camnitzer, Bruce McLean, David Lamelas, Rosalind Nashashibi, Charles Avery, Sarah Lucas and Stuart Brisley. He is a contributor to Mousse Magazine, Spike Art Quarterly and CURA Magazine, and has written catalogue texts on Bethan Huws, Daniel Buren and Nina Beier, among others.

In 2017-2018, Honor� was Artistic Director of the 13th Baltic Triennial, which took place across Vilnius, Tallinn, Riga and London.

In 2017, he joined the Hayward Gallery as Senior Curator, where his projects have included �DO DISTURB�, a co-programmed festival of performances at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris (with Dorota Gaweda, Egle Kulbokaite, and Florence Peake), an evening of performances for Art Night 2018, and �DRAG: Self-portraits and Body Politics�. In 2018, he guest curated Independent Brussels.
