The 58th Biennale of Art will open to the public on 11 May 2019. But starting from a few days before the opening there will be the various openings and side events that always suddenly animate the Venetian artistic life. The title of the 58 edition of the Biennale d'Arte is May You Live In Interesting Times.

79 artists are invited to exhibit at the 58th Venice Biennale of Art, with a prevalence of women. Among them the 2 Italians Ludovica Carbotta and Lara Favaretto. The first will make a site-specific work in Forte Marghera, inside the building known as the Austrian Powder Mill.

The artist Luso-Luxembourg Marco Godinho was selected to represent the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at the Venice Biennale in 2019. The jury of Emma Lavigne (Director Center Pompidou of Metz), Danielle Igniti (CCR Director opderschmelz, art galleries of the city by Dudelange), Suzanne Cotter (director Mudam Luxembourg), Frank-Thorsten Moll (director IKOB Eupen) and Kevin Muhlen (director Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'art contemporain) analyzed the 20 cases that were introduced.

After a long debate, the choice of the jury fell on the artist Marco Godinho. With this choice, the jury wanted to "honor the prolific work of Marco Godinho and his remarkable presence on national and international art scenes for a decade. The invitation to invest the Luxembourg Pavilion at the Venice Biennale will allow him to carry out a project ambitious and unprecedented artistic and to further expand its field of artistic action in the years to come.Its participation in this internationally recognized event - as well as the greater visibility of the Luxembourg Pavilion at the Arsenal - will offer him the opportunity to expand its professional network ".

From this year, the Luxembourg pavilion is located inside the Arsenal. The Luxembourg participation in this edition will be carried out in collaboration with Casino Luxembourg - Forum of Contemporary Art, responsible for the organization and coordination of the project. The biennial of contemporary art in Venice will last from 11 May to 24 November 2019.

Lavasani will propose a cycle of works entitled Life; while Alikhanzadeh will present a collection of digital prints originating from a series of old family photos. Finally, Meer Azimi will bring a cycle of works on the theme of dream perception to the Iranian Pavilion.
