CHURCH OF S. SILVESTRO - Sestiere of San Polo, IX sec. -

Capital and the column on Rio Terà side are the last elements remained of the ancient church built here in ninth century, in fact San Silvestro has been totally rebuilt in contempoorary age: facade dates back to 1909, while interior was realized from 1836 to 1843 on a Lorenzo Santi's project following the Neoclassic style, suffering later Meduna's interventions.
During last restoration many paintings kept here were sold so that now is left only Battesimo di Cristo by Tintoretto and few more other paintings.
The main altar is a beautiful example of Neoclassical art.
