CHURCH OF S. APOLLINARE (APONAL)

- Sestiere of San Polo. Xi sec. -

Saint Apollinare Church was founded in eleventh century but has been rebuilt in fifteenth and sixteenth century. In 1810 was closed and lost all its works 'till the 1851 when it was finally open again.
Facade follows the rules of late Venetian Gothic architecture, while the magnificent door is by sculptor Antonio Rizzo.
Interior has just one nave with a flat ceiling and four altars of sixteenth century made by Vittoria's School.
The main painting inside is Martirio di Sant'Apollinare by Lattanzio Querena.
