CHURCH OF SAN SAMUELE - Sestiere of San Marco, XI sec. -

This church, dedicated to Samuele prophet, suffered many restorations during the centuries and this strongly changed its original aspect.
Building has a three naves plan and keeps painting by Nicola Bambini (San Cristoforo, San Francesco e Re David in atto di sacrificare) on the arch of the nave and by Gerolamo Pilotto: La Crocefissione and Cristo deposto. Besides, there's a crucifix by Paolo Veneziano on the main altar and the Virgin brought here from East in the 1541, a sacred picture in the Byzantin Empire.
