CHURCH OF SAN SALVADOR - Sestiere of San Marco, VII sec. -

San Salvador has ancient origins, being probably built in the seventh century, but was rebuilt in the Middle Age and during the Renaissance.
Facade has been rebuilt during the seventeenth century and it's adorned with many statues by Bernardo Falcone.
Church has three naves with a dome each bringing light and shade in the interior.
On the altar there's an urn keeping the Saint Teodoro's ashes who has been the first patron of Venice.
The interior keeps many precious paintings, most important among these are surely Annunciazione (Annunciation) by Tiziano Vecellio, and the Cena di Emmaus (Emmaus' dinner), by Bellini's school.
Sculpture is rappresented by Campagna's and Jacopo Sansovino's works. The Doge Francesco Venier's Monument has also made by Jacopo Sansovino.
