S. SIMEONE
PICCOLO
- Sestiere
of Santa Croce, XVIII sec. -
The
entire name of this church is San Simeone e Giuda. It was founded in
the ninth century but the building, as it appears nowadays, was built
by architect Giovanni Scalfarotto (1718-1738) who was inspired by the
Pantheon in Rome.
Interior has a circular plan with Corinthian columns substaining a big
dome.
Probably this building is more interesting for its architecture than
for its artistic value, but it's worthy of a visit for its sacristy
where is placed and many other samll estatues by Giovanni Marchiori
(XVIII secolo).
